Mike Handfield Needs a Kidney Donor

Please Help Me Save
The Wind Beneath My Wings

I'm Tansy Handfield,

a mom, retired physical therapist, community participant and wife to Michael Handfield.  Mike is an extraordinary man who devoted nearly 40 years of his life to protecting the public and the most vulnerable --- investigating domestic violence, child abuse, homicide, and other cases we could never imagine.

Mike is my hero --- in search of a hero.

"I truIy believe that God has blessed us with two kidneys so that, when the time comes, we might bless someone else with the Gift of Life."  - Tansy Handfield

Our Quest

Mike is one of about 800,000 Americans living with End Stage Kidney Disease.  He's  on the National Kidney Registry for a transplant yet the wait is typically 3 to 10 years.  Mike's worsening condition requires that he receive a kidney transplant now.

That's our quest.

Mike Can't Wait

The quickest way to receive a transplant is through a LIVING donation of a spare non-vital organ --- such as one of the two kidneys found in the vast majority of us.  My quest is to find a living donor for my husband --- with your help.

My hero needs

a hero of his own.

It's time to Get Informed about
Living Donations
Mike Handfield Kidney Transplant Donor

While Mike is on the National Kidney Registry for a kidney transplant, the Registry keeps growing --- with roughly 45,000 new patients added each year.   And, only about 20,000 DECEASED-donor kidney transplants are conducted annually.

The rest of the potential recipients wait --- many for 3 to 10 years --- IF THEY CAN SURVIVE THAT LONG.

Tragically, thousands die each year simply because time ran out before donors came forward.

That's why now is the time to get the facts about LIVING-donor kidney transplants.  This Gift of Life could save the life of my husband.
